چکیده

We use the quasistatic approach to analyze the criterion of ferromagnetism for two-dimentional (2D) systems with the Fermi level near Van Hove singularities (VHS) of the electronic spectrum. It is shown that the spectrum of spin excitations (paramagnons) is positively defined when the interaction I between electrons and paramagnons, which corresponds to the Hubbard on-site repulsion U , is sufficiently large. The critical interactions Ic and Uc remain finite at Van Hove filling and exceed considerably their values obtained from the Stoner criterion due to incommensurate spin fluctuations, which are important near the ferromagnetic quantum phase transition. Combining the quasistatic approximation and the equation of motion method for the Green function we obtain the results for the electronic self-energy to first order in the inverse number of spin components.

The Kondo-lattice state and non-Fermi-liquid behavior in the presence of Van Hove singularities.

A scaling consideration of the Kondo lattices is performed with account of logarithmic Van Hove singularities (VHS) in the electron density of states. The scaling trajectories are presented for different magnetic phases. It is demonstrated that VHS lead to a considerable increase of the non-Fermi-liquid behavior region owing to softening of magnon branches during the renormalization process. Al...

Ferromagnetism in the two dimensional t - t ′ Hubbard model at the Van Hove density

Ferromagnetism in the two dimensional t-t ′ Hubbard model at the Van Hove density Abstract Using an improved version of the projection quantum Monte Carlo technique, we study the square-lattice Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor hopping t and next-nearest-neighbor hopping t ′ , by simulation of lattices with up to 20×20 sites. For a given R = 2t ′ /t, we consider that filling which leads to a ...

2 00 3 Renormalization group analysis of magnetic and superconducting instabilities near van Hove band fillings

Phase diagrams of the two-dimensional one-band t-t ′ Hubbard model are obtained within the two-patch and the temperature-cutoff many-patch renor-malization group approach. At small t ′ and at van Hove band fillings anti-ferromagnetism dominates, while with increasing t ′ or changing filling anti-ferromagnetism is replaced by d-wave superconductivity. Near t ′ = t/2 and close to van Hove band fi...

Ferromagnetic Luttinger liquids

We study weak itinerant ferromagnetism in one-dimensional Fermi systems using perturbation theory and bosonization. We find that longitudinal spin fluctuations propagate ballistically with velocity vm!vF , where vF is the Fermi velocity. This leads to a large anomalous dimension in the spin channel and strong algebraic singularities in the single-particle spectral function and in the transverse...

Renormalization group analysis of magnetic and superconducting instabilities near van Hove band fillings

Phase diagrams of the two-dimensional one-band t-t8 Hubbard model are obtained within the two-patch and temperature-cutoff many-patch renormalization group approaches. At small t8 and at van Hove band fillings antiferromagnetism dominates, while with increasing t8 or changing filling antiferromagnetism is replaced by d-wave superconductivity. Near t85t/2 and close to van Hove band fillings the ...
